DAN FORMLESS

DJ

Dan is currently redefining the sonic landscape at MATER1A four nights a week. His DJ residency creates an energy that blurs the line between fine dining and performance art.

Dan is renowned for his ability to adapt to any audience. His DJ sets glide effortlessly through a wide variety of genres to create the right vibe anywhere from restaurants, bars, clubs and festivals. Dan is just as adept at playing peak time music as he is with the after hours sounds of underground house and techno he has sourced from Detroit to Berlin. Always keen to share the full breadth of his extensive record collection accumulated on his travels, Dan rarely packs light.

Producer & Label Owner

Dan recently launched his own record label Saboteurs Sanctuary to release solo productions made in the Forward Movement studio.

Playing at parties across Europe, USA and Asia; Dan has released on labels including Bank of Switches, Yama Music with Locïc, Pyramid Transmissions with Psi Spy and Subtatic with Tileff.

More recently he has begun signing music to his label from artists including Tommy Vicari Jr and Rotty. He has also been remixing tracks for a number of labels.

Digital releases are now monthly with at least one vinyl record coming out each year, usually as a compilation.

Radio, Film & Livestreams

Dan is best known for founding Hoxton FM back in 2011, building it up over the next 10 years to feature 100 shows per month including his own.

In that time he was invited to sit on panels and present at the International Radio Festivals in Zurich and Milan. During these trips he interviewed both DJ Premier and Derrick May. Alongside Normski he presented the opening show of the festival reaching 100 million listeners worldwide.

Dan is happiest when chronicling his creative journey. Forward Movement studio was initially set up to push beyond the airwaves of Hoxton FM with longer form livestreams. It also acts as an independent platform for interviews, documentary films and podcasts alongside more traditional radio shows.
